How it works

  1. Step 1

    Drop a PDF

Drag up to 10 PDFs onto the page, or browse for them. Each can be up to 25 MB.

  2. Step 2

    See what looks blank

Every page is measured and the empty ones are marked. Nothing is removed until you say so.

  3. Step 3

    Download it

The pages you keep are copied across untouched.

How a page is judged empty

Each page is drawn in your browser and measured for how much of it carries ink. That number is shown per page, and the threshold is yours to move — because 'blank' is a judgement, not a fact. A scanned back-of-page with a faint show-through sits close to the line, and the person who owns the document is better placed than we are to decide. The outer edge of each page is left out of the measurement, since a scanner often leaves a dark stripe there that is not content.

Measured
how much of each page carries ink, shown per page
Adjustable
move the threshold if a smudged scan is being kept or a faint page dropped
Edges ignored
the dark stripe a scanner leaves is not counted as content
Shown first
nothing is removed before you have seen what was found

Why use SlimFile for this

  • You see it before anything goes

Every page gets an ink score and the blank ones are marked and counted first. Move the threshold until the list looks right.

  • Built for scans

The outer border of each page is ignored, so the dark edge a scanner lid leaves does not stop a blank page being found.

  • Kept pages are untouched

Pages you keep are copied across as they are — text stays selectable and nothing is re-encoded.

  • Free, no sign-up

No account, no email address, no trial that runs out.

  • No watermark

What you download is clean — nothing added to your file.

  • Deleted within an hour

Uploads and results are removed automatically about an hour after processing. We never look inside them.

Questions

How do I remove blank pages from a scanned PDF?
Add the scan, let every page be measured, check the pages marked as blank, and remove them. Double-sided scans are the classic case — every empty back of a page disappears in one step instead of being deleted by hand.
Can I clean up several PDFs at once?
Yes. Add up to 10 PDFs, up to 25 MB each, and review the blank pages found in each one before removing them.
How does it decide a page is blank?
Each page is drawn in your browser and measured for how much of it carries ink. That figure is shown for every page, and the threshold is yours to move, because blank is a judgement rather than a fact — a scanned back-of-page with faint show-through sits right on the line.
Will it delete a page that has something on it?
Not without showing you first. The pages it considers blank are marked and counted before anything happens, and you can move the threshold until the list looks right. If a faint page is being marked, lower it.
Why do my scanned pages all look non-blank?
Usually a dark stripe along one edge where the scanner lid did not close. The outer border of each page is deliberately left out of the measurement for exactly this reason, but a heavy shadow reaching further in can still register. Raising the threshold is the fix.
Are the kept pages changed at all?
No. They are copied across as they are, so text stays selectable and nothing is re-encoded.
